Follies
"Who Could Be Blue/Little White House"
In 1998 the Papermill Playhouse did a production of Stephen Sondheim's FOLLIES with a legendary cast of Broadway and Film stars (among them, the late Ann Miller). Meredith was cast as "Young Phylliss", opposite her was the wonderful Michael Gruber who played "Young Ben". The following song "Who Could Be Blue/Little White House" was originally written for the show but later replaced. When Stephen Sondheim asked Meredith and Michael to record the song as part an appendix of the cast album they of course, jumped at the chance! Recorded with just a piano to accompany them, you can really hear Michael and Meredith's voices blend beautifully.

Fun Fact: Recorded at the famous Edison Studios in New York City, Meredith and Michael recorded this remarkably in one take. Facing eachother, each with a micraphone, and a piano in the background they sang, conducting eachother with their breath and trying desperatly not to be nervous as Stephen Sondheim himself sat listening in the engineer booth!
